Quick Start

Start Program

  1. Start Masking Password Generator (MPWGen.exe).

If you accepted the default installation steps the program will have it's own folder (Masking Password Generator) in your Start menu under Programs. If not, you can create your own shortcut to the program on your desktop by locating it using Windows Explorer, e.g. C:\Program Files\AccuSolve, Inc.\Masking Password Generator\MPWGen.exe. Right click on the file and select Send To/Desktop (create shortcut).

The program will appear as follows. Your colors may be different depending on your Operating System and Control Panel's Display Properties.

Masking Password Generator 2.0 Professional Edition on Windows XP

Generate Password

  1. Select one of the predefined masks and click Use (or) enter your own mask in the Mask field (see Mask Syntax).
  2. Click on Generate.

That's it! Your random password appears in the Password field and has already been copied to the Windows clipboard for you so that all you have to do is paste it into any other application you like.

If you don't like what you see, just keep pressing Generate until you do. You'll get a new random password based on your mask each time.

Generate List

This feature is available only in the Professional Edition. See License/Registration for more information on how to obtain the Professional Edition.

  1. Select one of the predefined masks and click Use (or) enter your own mask in the Mask field (see Mask Syntax).
  2. Click on Generate.
  3. Click on Generate List.

The list window pops up, shows the progress of your list creation, and then lets you save or print it if you wish (see Lists).
