Saved Masks

This table contains all masks that have been saved so that they can be easily reused. The following four buttons are for use with the Saved Masks table.

Use

Click this button to copy the selected mask to the Mask field to be used for generating passwords. {shortcut: Alt-u}

New

Click this button to append a new mask to the end of the Saved Masks table. Type in the name or description and the mask you would like to save. {shortcut: Alt-n} See Syntax Reference.

Delete

Delete the selected mask in the Saved Masks table. If you change your mind after you have deleted it, and the mask has already been saved, you may select the File/Restore Masks from the main menu. {shortcut: Alt-d}

Save

Copies the contents of the Mask field to a new record in the Saved Masks table. Enter a name/description for the mask. {shortcut: Alt-s}

Mask

This is the mask that is used to generate one or a list of passwords. Either select a mask from the Saved Masks table or enter a new one here. See Syntax Reference.

Generate

Click this button to generate a password based on the contents of Mask. If Mask is empty, this button is not enabled. If 'Automatically copy passwords to clipboard' is checked in your Preferences, then the resultant password will be copied to the clipboard. Just like it says! {shortcut: Alt-g}

Password Length

Read-only field which shows what the length of the generated mask will be.

Max Combinations

Read-only field which shows how many unique passwords can be generated from Mask. Very large numbers are displayed in scientific notation.

Password

This is a result of all your hard work! Well, yours and ours. If the password has been copied to the clipboard automatically (see Generate above) all you have to do is paste it into another application. You may edit a password after it is generated if desired, however, any changes are not automatically copied to the clipboard.

Clear Clipboard

If a password has been automatically copied to the clipboard, clicking this button will clear it, if desired, for security purposes. {shortcut: Alt-c}

# Passwords

Enter the number of passwords you want to generate. We have imposed a limit of 1,000,000 as a reasonable safeguard against typos. If you need to create more than this, please let us know!

Allow Duplicates

Check this box if you don't need to make sure all passwords are unique. This will speed up list generation.

Sort List

If this is checked, the list will be output in sorted order.

Generate List

Click this button to start generating your list. See Lists for a description of the list output window.
